100th post

In honor of my 100th post, I've decided to share the good, bad, and quirky things about me (aka the one in charge of the Pew Family Blog!). For the 200th, I'll do the same for Doug. If I get to 200...okay, maybe for the 150th.

Also, since you all share your input on this blog (which I LOVE hearing), it's time to give out a prize! Make a comment and you'll be a candidate for some good stuff. You have until Friday, March 14th to enter.

1. I got glasses in 3rd grade. My eyes are -8.5. BAD. I'm so nearsighted that I can only see clearly if something's a foot in front of me.
2. I love thinking. Really thinking. I used to sit on our trampoline at night and stare at the stars and wonder and dream about life, the world, God.
3. I'm not a very good driver...but I've never been in a major accident. However, I have no sense of direction and get lost easily.
4. I was born a towhead. Now my hair's dishwater blonde. Yuck.
5. I try to be a positive thinker, but I'm naturally more negative.
6. I want to become a better photographer.
7. I love music. I feel like I can express through music what I can't express through words.
8. I've played violin since I was 3. I love to play, but have always had a tough time liking to practice.

9. I got my bachelor's degree in Dec. 2006, majoring in Violin Pedagogy. So I definitely learned how to practice better and more efficiently!

Baroque Ensemble 2006
Good friends from college! I miss those days.

10. I wish I could play the piano. I can play 5 hymns...does that count?
11. I love to sing, but not solos, just in groups.
12. I love nature. It brings me such peace.
13. I love to lift weights, work out, and read about fitness and health.
14. I love food. Especially smelling and tasting it. Mmm.
15. I love to cook and read cookbooks, and plan menus.

19. I think #18 is what made me so obsessive about food and my appearance.
20. I am a perfectionist.
21. I have a temper, unfortunately.
22. I have a tough time with my weaknesses.
23. If I don't keep myself spiritually in line, I get physically sick. Needless to say, I'm often repenting.
24. I have always known the LDS church is true.
25. I love being a member of the LDS church.
26. I love to read. As a kid, I would sit on my daybed and read myself into other worlds. I have to be reading something during breakfast. It's usually the back of the cereal box or my scriptures.
27. I don't like to clean, but I love a clean house.
28. I like to organize.
29. I am afraid of spiders. Okay, VERY afraid. I've only killed 2 spiders that I can remember, because I was babysitting and had to act cool and confident. Doug kills the spiders now!
30. I want to learn how to decorate better.
31. I want to learn how to dress more stylish and better coordinate colors.
32. I sewed a lot in high school. I made quilts, pj pants, wall hangings...but I haven't done much since we got married. I want to take that up again.
33. I love to write. And edit. I've edited this post at least a dozen times!
34. I have a tough time making myself start something hard. Once I start, it's so much easier.
35. When I smile for pictures, I tend to turn my head a little to the left.
36. I want to be a writer when I grow up.
37. I want to be in a professional orchestra when I grow up.
38. I hope I never grow up!
39. I love being a mom.
40. I want to be more creative with my kids, and to help them discover their interests and talents.
41. I went to school at BYU-Idaho. I also applied to BYU Provo and got in, but didn't like the violin teachers there and got a good scholarship at BYU-I.

43. We got engaged right after that. (Dec. 2002)

45. Our wedding day was the most exquisite day of my life.
46. Until Aubrey entered the world. But her birth was NOT a very beautiful day. I had 2 seizures before she was born and then had a C-section, so I woke up and had a baby. (Eclampsia was the cause of it all, and she was breech)

Aubrey, September 2005

47. Then Zach was born. His birthday was beautiful. I had a VBAC and no medication. I felt such a connection to God and feel it an honor to be able to raise two children.

51. When we're older, my husband and I want to go on a mission for the LDS church.
52. I love to be with others.
53. I love to have people over.
54. I get stressed about having a clean house and having it just right when people come over.
55. I worry about what others think. Too much.
56. I love animals. Especially cats. They seem to understand what I can't say when I'm feeling down, and FYI: petting animals is shown to lower blood pressure!
57. I love to shop when I have money.
58. I hardly shop anymore because it's such a hassle taking the kids.
59. I miss shopping.
60. I like my sandwiches cut in half.
61. I love hot, long showers. I prefer them over baths.

65. I can be crazy. I love to laugh.
66. When I focus about the important things in life instead of the trivial, I am truly happy.

88. I love putting on lotion after showering and before bed.
89. I love getting dressed up and going out.
90. I love to eat out. People cooking food for me, waiting on me, doing the dishes for me...it makes me feel like a queen!
91. I have bad coordination.
92. I can wiggle my ears.
93. I have blonde eyelashes. I want to try dying them black sometime.
94. I can't really do a handstand.
95. I'm bad at all sports, but I like to play them.
96. I wrote in my journal every day for 5+ years as a kid. I still write, but not nearly as much now.
97. I got a 3.92 GPA in high school, and a 3.5 GPA in college.
98. I've debated on becoming a lacto-ovo-vegetarian lots of times. I hate cutting and dealing with raw meat, but I don't mind the finished product. I like meat that doesn't look like meat, and I like chicken when it's mixed with other stuff so I don't taste it as much. But I enjoy meat, just am not a fanatic about it, so I don't think I'll ever truly be a vegan. However, I do not like cooking whole turkeys, so Doug will be the one doing Thanksgiving turkeys for a long while!
99. I am a procrastinator, especially when I don't want to do something that I have to do.
100. When I die, I want to die quickly (no cancer or illness that drags on for years.) Don't worry, I'm not thinking of dying soon, but when I saw the number 100 I thought of living to age 100--and I can't imagine being that old. Knock on wood...

There you have it! Leave a comment by Friday, March 14th to be entered in the drawing. It'll be a good prize, I promise. Thanks for joining me!

That was fun to read about. And so fun that you had 100 things to say about yourself. I think something like this would take me a while to come up with. I really enjoyed it and feel like I know you even better. Thanks for sharing!! And congrats on your 100th post!
Happy Blogging!

Nice to get to know you better. I was just thinking that it's been nearly 3 years since we've lived in Idaho. Wow!

I actually read it all - and am AMAZED at how much I didn't know about you! We should have gone climbing when we all still lived in Rexburg - we went with the Eatons all the time. Anyways, thanks for the insights... we have a lot more in common than I ever would have realized!! (7,11,12,14, 18, 24-30, 33, 38, 39.... probably half of them!!)

That was SO much fun to read more about you! I agree w/ Shaela... we have a TON in common! :) Another thing we have in common, we both hit our 100th posts this week! YEA!! And by the way, you always look great, and are my fashion guru, I remember thinking every week how stinkin' cute you looked at church!

I loved reading all your 100 things about you! You are an amazing woman. Don't worry you will get to 200 I just looked at mine and I am almost to 300! Maybe I will do something fun for 300!

As I've said before, it seems like we knew each other well as kids, and then just dropped out of contact, so it's been really wonderful to get to know you as an adult. This post was perfect for that! I did the whole anorexia thing too. It stunk. Then I tried working out ALL the time and eating fat free. Which translated into eating almost all carbs, because I didn't know anything. Teenage years are hard. Congrats on your 100th post and I can't wait to keep getting to know you!

I am not trying to be entered twice, I just wanted you to know how fun it was to read all about you and get to know you a little better. Thanks for that fun post.

I want a prize! Actually it was cool reading about you too because although we hung out in high school, I guess I never really got to know the real things about you!

I enjoyed learning more about you. Some of the things you mentioned motivated me to want to try. When I read the one about you tilting your head to the left for pictures, I scrolled back up to your photo with the other violinists, to see if you did it -- you did! That's kind of fun. I had a crooked smile when I was young, I kind of still do.

Janae it's so fun to reminise as I read your 100 fun things that make you unique. I've loved being your mom. I'm impressed at how well you've kept up your blog. I love the pictures! Sledding looked fun. I'm hoping you'll send me a 6-month picture of Zach. I just don't get to take many pictures since you're farther away. Love your blog!

I know I missed the cut off date but...I loved this post! First off I am not patient enough to even sit and type 100 things about anything so go Janae! So many fun things I didn't know about you! We should all be required to do this some time and make it into a trivia game or something...then one day when we all do get together...which we will... we can quiz eachother and laugh our guts out! Thanks for doing this! Great idea! You are a wonder woman! By the way...darling hair cut! I hope my blog works for you know.
